Happy International Women’s Day!
For those of you who aren't sure, Sunday 8th March is International Women's Day, an internationally recognised day that celebrates women on a global and local level. IWD has been occurring for well over a century and continues to grow from strength to strength.
Today, we have decided to dedicate this blog to the fantastic achievements and hard work of not only the women in our organisation, but also the men, who all bring great talent and success to Locate A Locum. Ahead of this day, We have managed to tie down our very busy new female recruits - so that we could ask them about how they started their career and how they got to where they are now.
Lauren Fullerton - Digital Marketing Specialist
I started out my career freelancing and doing agency work for different companies in Northern Ireland & England. After a few years in agency work, I decided I wanted to work in an inhouse role so that I could see the work I was doing, having a direct impact on the growth and expansion of the company. After a few long years studying Marketing and Design at Lancaster University and then a Masters in Marketing at Queens University, Belfast - I am pleased to say that I am finally settled working with this fantastic Software company in the Healthcare sector and i’m looking forward to growing alongside it.
Hannah Bishop - Booking Coordinator
My career started with a part time job in M&S whilst completing my education. When I was studying for my degree in Human Resource Management, M&S made me realise I always wanted to work with people. I gradually made my way up the career ladder in M&S and became a Manager. After a while this made me realise recruitment was what I really wanted to get into, so I moved to a Recruitment Agency and managed their Logistics and Industrial division. From this, I then decided a change was needed and now I am here at Locate A Locum ready to further my career and myself.
Gabrielle Statie - Lead Product Designer
My career started 10 years ago in my small hometown in Romania, with the first few years jumping between design and front-end development. Earlier in my career, I had the opportunity to join a Dublin based development agency, with the production offices in my hometown. This is how my journey in the UX/UI industry started. After a few amazing years, I moved on to pursue an opportunity in sunny Gibraltar, where I worked for a few gambling companies (Ladbrokes Coral, William Hill, Lottoland) and learned REAL UX - With Gambling being one of the toughest industries in terms of UX. After 3 years in the South, life brought me to Belfast where I had the pleasure to work for a cybersecurity start-up, another challenging and interesting industry. I now work for Locate A Locum and I'm really excited for what’s to come!
Mary Lambert - Office Manager
Oh my word, how long do you have?! I started out my career many many moons ago in the NHS - Nurse Lambert! I’ve been a Publican, Estate Agent, Furniture Designer, Recruitment Consultant, HR Manager, and Office Manager… There’s been a few other things in between but you’ll have to get to know me before I tell you about those! Working for Locate A Locum is such a huge challenge and I'm really excited to be here at this growth spurt stage. Being part of a growing company and supporting that expansion is something I am really passionate about.
Melissa McIlwrath - Recruitment Consultant
My career actually started in security at events whilst I was studying Chemistry in University and was a local door woman! I then got asked if I want to help out on a recruitment day and this was the birth of my love with recruitment! A challenging career choice with many highs and lows. From this, I then worked my way up from in-house Recruitment to a Recruitment Manager and the rest is history!
